Water usage has been growing at an alarming rate…at more than twice the rate the population increased during the past century, according to Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and UN-Water. Freshwater withdrawals have tripled over the last 50 years. Demand for freshwater is increasing by 64 billion cubic meters a year (1 cubic meter = 1,000 liters)…by my calculations this is a column of water 1 kilometer by 1 kilometer and 64 000 kms high which is almost 20 percent of the distance from the earth to the moon. And this is just increased annual consumption.Lack of access to clean water and sanitation kills children at a rate equivalent of a jumbo jet crashing every four hours.Of the 60 million people added to the world’s towns and cities every year, most move to informal settlements (i.e. slums) with no sanitation facilities.World population growth continues to place enormous strain on resources  with water withdrawals predicted to increase by 50 percent by 2025 in developing countries and 18 percent in developed countries. We at Filcon Filters, acutely aware of the problem, endeavour to promote the saving, recycling and resuse of water wherever possible. We manufacture back flushing, purge and Y strainers; both bag and cartridge housings and centrifugal strainers. And we distribute a wide range of filter housings, cartridges and bag filters.,
