Filcon Filters’ management is deeply concerned about the pollution of rivers and oceans

Filcon Filters’ management is deeply concerned about the pollution of rivers and oceans. As a consequence we believe that it is important to share in making known the contamination we hear about. The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry meeting in Finland released a study showing that world wide hundreds of rivers are contaminated with antibiotics. One river in Bangladesh had concentrations of metronidazole 300 times greater than the “safe” level. The Thames running through London had five different antibiotics including almost four times the safe level of clarithromycin. This type of pollution could possibly allow anti-biotic superbugs to flourish causing Alistair Boxall and environmental scientist at University of York to state the “it’s quite scary and depressing, we could have large parts of the environment that have got antibiotics at levels high enough to affect resistance.”
