1.1 Billion People Lack Access To Clean Fresh Water

According to the WWF website 1.1 billion people lack access to clean fresh water which is an essential ingredient for a healthy life. Apparently 2.7 billion people experience water scarcity for at least one month in the year. The WWF indicate that two thirds of the world’s population could be experiencing some form of water shortages by 2025. Also 2.4 billion people have inadequate sanitation which puts them at risk of contracting deadly diarrheal diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

South Africa is a country which suffers from water scarcity and from time to time has experienced water borne diseases.
